About Health & Wellness

[fa icon="plus-square"] What will the test tell me about myself?

Using the latest discoveries in genetic research, the AGS Health & Wellness Genetic Test profiles and analyzes many genes that make your genome unique in terms of optimal health and athletic performance. Possessing the knowledge of your genetic information can empower you to make informed decisions about your body and make lifestyle choices in areas such as diet, exercise, nutrition, and weight management that are suitable for you, and only you.

[fa icon="plus-square"] How much is the test?
Please visit the AGS Pricing Page for details on price.
[fa icon="plus-square"] How accurate and reliable are the results?
The reports have been validated to be 99.9% accurate.

To veracity, AGS runs an individuals specimen twice. The results are compared and conclusions are drawn.

[fa icon="plus-square"] Why does this test cost more than other DNA tests on the market?

The AGS Health & Wellness Test covers 60 of your genomes that are prudent to your overall health. The other DNA tests only cover 30 genomes which aren’t always of importance to your health.

[fa icon="plus-square"] Who will review my results with me?

Once your test results are in, AGS offers a free consultation with a nutritionist. You may also review your test results with your personal trainer or physician.

[fa icon="plus-square"] Will this test tell my ancestry?

Our test does not tell you about your ancestry but rather crucial information about yourself that can help you live a healthier life style and reach optimal health goals.

[fa icon="plus-square"] Saliva, blood or cheek swabs...what's the difference?

There is no difference in the genetic information obtained from these 3 different collection methods. There are many reasons why a cheek swab is the preferred method. To name a few:

  • Cheek swabs are effective, yet inexpensive. Buccal swabs aren’t like regular cotton swabs: they’re specially designed to effectively collect and trap cheek cells within the fibers. Since two swabs per participant are included in the kit, the lab gets all the DNA it needs to perform the testing.
  • It is a non-invasive method of collection: absolutely no needles or pain
  • Unlike collecting saliva, it is easy to collect good DNA samples from the littlest child-even a newborn!
  • Swabs do not require refrigeration. In fact, after samples are collected, they are good for up to six months as long as the swabs are kept in a cool, dry place.
  • It is easier and faster for a lab to extract DNA from a cheek swab than from blood.
[fa icon="plus-square"] Are you copying what other companies test?

The AGS Health & Wellness Genetic test is like no other genetic test on the market today. We evaluate far more genes than the other companies all of which are directly related to overall health, diet and fitness.

[fa icon="plus-square"] How do I receive my results?

Once AGS receives the sample, your final results will be ready in 2-3 weeks. You will receive an email with a secured, encrypted, downloadable PDF document requiring a passcode to retrieve the report information.

[fa icon="plus-square"] Who would most benefit from taking a genetic test like this?

Everyone. Newborns, in the beginning stages of life, to elderly adults can benefit from a genetic test. Genetic testing is often viewed as a relief, eliminating some of the uncertainty surrounding their health. These results may also help doctors make recommendations for treatment or monitoring, and give people more information for making decisions about their, and their family's health.

[fa icon="plus-square"] What is the science behind the test?

All DNA is constructed of either adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T) for the base pairs just in different sequences. These sequences are what make up a persons genetic information. In 2003 the Human Genome Project was able to sequence and map the entire human genome. This blueprint laid out the foundation needed for AGS to then determine the genes in direct relation to optimal health and athletic performance. All genes selected for inclusion in each report are highly studied and validated with clinical relevance by our scientific review board.

[fa icon="plus-square"] How can I buy a genetic test?
You can purchase an AGS Health & Wellness testing kit through www.amazon.com or by clicking here.
[fa icon="plus-square"] How is the AGS Health & Wellness test different from ancestral genetic testing?

The AGS Health & Wellness test focuses on those genes which are most relevant to your diet, nutrition and exercise performance. Ancestral testing companies provide information on the genealogy of where the tested person is from in the world.

Privacy

[fa icon="plus-square"] Do you sell or share DNA data to third parties?

AGS adheres to strict confidentiality and privacy laws that ensure that genetic information is kept private or only shared with your physician. Unlike several other genetic companies, AGS does not sell or transfer any personal data to any third parties.

[fa icon="plus-square"] Is my personal information confidential?

Confidentiality is a respected part of the AGS code of ethics. Your privacy is our number one priority. We pledge to uphold the highest standards of bioethics and maintain rigorous policies and procedures to keep your data safe and secure. We won’t even share your DNA data with your physician without your permission and we wont ever sell your data. That is our strict policy. We guarantee it.

[fa icon="plus-square"] Why is privacy so important in regard to genetics?

Some laws (such as GINA and HIPAA) limit how personal information can be used, but none truly protects privacy. And, that may not even be possible, because genetic information is unique to every individual. It cannot be de-identified; even if separated from obvious identifiers like name and Social Security number, it is still forever linked to only one person in the world.

If your genetic data got in the hands of the wrong people, such as a future employer or a life insurance policy evaluator, the outcome could negatively affect you and your blood relatives.

To read more about Privacy, please visit our Privacy Statement.

[fa icon="plus-square"] How are the reports secured?
Your final genetic report is emailed to you in an encrypted PDF format that requires a password to access the information within. A password is required each time you log in to the file so it remains secure even after delivery.

[fa icon="plus-square"] What is a DNA genetic test?

A DNA test uses genetic material from your cells to determine traits. All DNA is constructed of either adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T) for the base pairs just in different sequences. These sequences are what make up a person’s genetic information.
